Monthly Campouts / Activities Troop 345 is dedicated to a monthly campout or Troop activity besides the normal weekly meeting. Usually this will be either one or two nights camping or a single day activity. The advancement along the Scouting trail is based upon acquiring knowledge and developing skills while participating in Troop activities. Weekly meetings are often spent in preparation of outdoor activities such as the campouts. When a campout is planned, you can rest assured that the welfare of your boy comes first. In planning these campouts, consideration is given to the number of Scouts, leadership, and experience qualifications of the Scouts and the adult leaders. Preparation includes instruction regarding proper gear, food, and safety. Transportation Transporting an average of 20 – 30 Scouts plus adults to and from weekend campouts and summer long-term camps requires many vehicles and much cooperation from parents. Troop equipment must also be transported so there is an obvious need for the parents of our Scouts to step forward and share with your son in this great experience. Mileage to and from official Scout events is tax deductible (see IRS rules for donations to a charitable organization). In general, drivers must be over 21 years of age to transport other Scouts (there is a specific national Scouting policy that addresses younger drivers).
