Hello Scouts,

Next week, we will complete the the Citizenship in Society and Electronics merit badges. It will also be the last opportunity to complete merit badges and rank advancement before the Court of Honor on February 22.

On to the update:

1) Sunday, February 4: Scout Sunday. Scouts should plan to come to the service at Hope to show our reverence and support for the church. Service will start at 10:00 am. Scouts who will be helping as ushers, greeters, readers, or doing the flag ceremony, should be there no later than 9:30. I still do not know if I will be able to attend. If I am not there, Mr. Doering will be in charge. Scouts should be in full uniforms.

2) February 17 – Joseph’s Eagle project.

3) February 22 – Court of Honor. This will be a potluck with more details to follow. A merit badge makeup and completion meeting will take place on February 8.

4) March 2 – District Merit Badge College — great opportunity to earn merit badges. More details here: https://denverboyscouts.doubleknot.com/registration/calendardetail.aspx?activitykey=3031159&orgkey=1704&ReturnURL=//denverboyscouts.doubleknot.com/app/calendar/monthlist/1704/2024-03-02,2024-03-03/-1/0/

5) April 6 – 7: Rocky Mountain Train Show – Scouts in uniform receive free entry and can complete the Railroading Merit Badge. More information at: www.rockymountaintrainshow.com.

6) We are adding a March campout to replace the FUNdamentals overnight (since there are currently no new scouts in the cub scout packs to cross over). We discussed going to Cherokee Grasslands in southern Colorado. Please, let me know if you would like to help plan this campout.

7) We have space in our Northern Tier crews. This is canoeing in Northern Minnesota for a week departing on either July 10 or 13. Please, talk to Mr. Wilcox if you are interested.

8) We now also have a space on our SeaBase crew. This is sailing in the Caribbean starting on May 24. Please, let Mr. Wilcox know if you are interested.

9) We have added a second Philmont trek and have almost enough girls interested to have an all-girls crew. Our treks will begin on July 10, 2025 and last 10 days. This is a foundational experience of scouting and highly recommended for all scouts. You must be 14 or 13 and entering 9th grade and First Class. If you are at all interested, there are still some spaces available so let Mr. Wilcox know.

Thank you.

Mr. Wilcox
